Jeff Gordon raced the Superman paint scheme at Charlotte in the Winston All-Star Race held Saturday May 22, 1999 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Bobby Labonte won the pole, but it was his brother Terry Labonte who won the race. Jeff Gordon started the race in 2nd position, and had the dominant car leading 34 of the 70 laps. However, Gordon finished in 3rd place, behind Tony Stewart and ahead of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
